碩士 / 南臺科技大學 / 休閒事業管理系 / 106 / Oversea volunteer tourism is an individual who uses leisure time and money to participate in volunteer activities, assist local people who need help, and use non service time to travel locally. In recent years, as a result of the promotion of overseas volunteer services by international volunteers, "oversea volunteer tourism" has become a new travel product which has been actively promoted by many travel agencies at home and abroad. The main demands of oversea volunteer tourism is to provide both volunteer service and travel overseas travel, that is, to the local tourism is not only tourism, more important is to do the best of my ability, contribute to the local community. However, although oversea volunteer tourism has attracted more and more attention and popular, but at present, there are few domestic related literature on overseas volunteer tourism. Consequently, this study adopts deep interview method, using purposive sampling to semi structure interviews with 10 overseas volunteers and participated in recreational activities of the Taiwan community and college students, in order to understand the participation of oversea volunteer tourism's motives, in-depth understanding of volunteer tourism activities, as well as the influence in the overseas life experience and reflection the self-growth and impact in the future.
The results of this study show that the multiple types of overseas volunteers, such as volunteer of agriculture, business volunteers, volunteer of education and volunteers of culture, etc., Most of the main motives for participating in overseas volunteer tourism can be roughly divided into three categories: helping behavior and doing their utmost; being curious and challenging; other factors, such as just having enough money, time and opportunity, and being influenced by others. Furthermore, overseas volunteers mainly use the internet to search for information, and to prepare to collect some general preparation to go abroad, local customs and tourism information, only a few participants in the line to to strengthen their professional ability and the language itself. Overall, the oversea volunteer tourism to help participants to expand the circle of friends, make friends with different countries, increase language communication skills, and increase the sense of identity and confidence of themselves. And then, oversea volunteer tourism experience, let the participants recognize their own ability is limited, cannot change the deep-rooted cultural differences, although different cultures bring impacts, many participants learn to respect different cultures, and believe that they understand different cultures and remain resilient. Finally, most overseas volunteer tourists show that if they have opportunities to participate in overseas volunteer tourists in different countries, they will have more helpful to the local or help more people.
