碩士 / 國立臺北科技大學 / 電機工程研究所 / 106 / An indoor positioning and tracking system is proposed to monitor the activities of daily living (ADL) of elderly persons living alone by using received signal strength indicator (RSSI), inertial navigation unit (IMU), and extended Kalman filter (EKF). Firstly, this system measures the RSSI of the device worn on the body of the elderly via wireless sensor network and then the LANDMARC scheme is employed to evaluate the real-time position of the elderly. Next, the evaluated positioning coordination together with the direction of motion and walking steps extracted by the IMU are sent to the server for walking trajectory tracking by means of the EKF. Experimental results indicate that our proposed system reduces the tracking error from 0.8599 m to 0.66 m (in terms of RMSE), yielding an improvement of 23.24% as compared to the IMU.
The walking steps which represent activity amounts are used to construct an activity density map (ADM). The ADM is then employed to detect if abnormal ADL happen via dis-similarity analysis for elderly telecare. The proposed system has the functionalities of real-time positioning, walking trajectory tracking, and detection of abnormal ADL, which has practical potential for application in telecare of elderly persons living alone.
