A Study of Indoor Navigation Mechanisms based on Bluetooth Beacons and its Implementation / 基於藍牙Beacon室內導航機制之研究及實作

碩士 / 中華大學 / 資訊工程學系 / 107 / With fast growth of Internet technology and popularity of online shopping, how to quickly and accurately deliver goods to the hands of consumers relies on an efficient and accurate logistics system in which warehouse management plays an important role. In order to improve the capacity, speed and quality of warehouse management, it is inevitable to introduce automated guided vehicle systems. An automated guided vehicle system can reduce the man power and the sensors on a vehicle can help the vehicle pick the right items and place them in the designated area. Moreover, vehicles and goods can be monitored in real time to reduce the loss and damage of goods caused by human errors.
In this thesis an indoor navigation mechanism for automated guided vehicles is proposed and implemented. In the implementation an autonomous car based on a Raspberry Pi computer was assembled to simulate an automated guided vehicle in a warehouse. Bluetooth 4.0 beacons notable for their low energy consumption and low cost are chosen to be location indicators for guiding the autonomous car. The location of beacons are recorded in a server computer. During operation the autonomous car must keep connecting to the server so that it can transmit the location of the car to the server and receive the command from the server to guide the car to the designated location. Compared to current similar systems the cost for automatic guided vehicles and surrounding systems are very high. The main contribution of this thesis is to present a low cost and feasible indoor navigation system for automatic guided vehicles.
