Teaching Practice for Mathematics Remedial Instruction of Teachers in an offshore Island: Study of the Four Elementary Schools in Samaji. / 離島教師數學科補救教學實踐— 以沙馬基四所國小為例

碩士 / 大葉大學 / 教育專業發展研究所 / 107 / The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of the remedial teaching, the implementation of the teaching, the difficulties and reflections of the elementary school teachers in Shamaji participating in the remedial teaching of mathematics. By adoptingthe method of qualitative research, collecting data through in-depth interviews and observational methods, and then using grounded theory to analyze and discuss, this study has come to the following conclusions:
First, the teachersparticipatingin this research believe that remedial teaching can achieve the concept of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, closing the learning gap, and implementing equal opportunities in education.
Second, the elementary school teachers in Shamaji participating in the remedial teaching of mathematics design curriculum contentbased on the initial capabilitiesdiagnosed by the student’stechnology assesment system, and use differentiated and appropriate teaching models and strategies to carry out differentiated instruction.
Third, the remedial teaching in Samaji faces challenges such as students’weak intentionto participate in remedial teaching, limited family support, insufficient teaching equipments, conflict of remedial teaching concepts, large differences in student abilities, inadequate tacit understanding between teachers and students, and insufficient professional competence of teachers.
Forth, the teachersparticipating in this researchhope to get support and understanding from parents and administration, participate in learning community of teaching enhancement, and establish a student's follow-up counseling mechanism in the future.
Based on the above conclusions, the study provides suggestions for the education authorities,schools, teachers, students, parents, and future research, and hope it can contribute to the education of children in the offshore islands.
