Research on the Adventure and Flow Experience of High-altitude Mountaineering by the Elderly / 高齡者高海拔登山之冒險力與心流體驗之研究

碩士 / 弘光科技大學 / 老人福利與長期照顧事業研究所 / 107 / The continuously aging global population has stimulated diversified health promotion methods. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the correlation between the health promotion context and the flow experience of the elderly in the perspective of adventurous activities. The research design adopted the qualitative case in-depth interview method. The main body of the literature was used to write the interview outline, and an open semi-structured interview study was conducted. The high-altitude mountaineers aged 65 years and older with an average age of 68.6 years old were interviewed,as an external validity studt.Sports experts with the average age of 40.5 years old were also interviewed. The analysis method was coded openly by verbatim text. It was found that the elderly will have healthier body when they left the comfort zone. The elderly participating in their favorite and passionate activities can easily create the flow, and the reward of the flow experience helps the elderly obtain safety adventures. The safety of adventurous activities by the elderly can be built upon the self-awareness and the application of technology products. Sports experts highly agree that the elderly should engage in adventurous activities, which will have substantial benefits for health promotion. The risk prevention recommendations to the elderly from sports experts are long-term and low-intensity physical training. The health assessment and backup planning of the units formulating adventurous activities should be strengthened as well.
