After mandating the implementation of the “two days off per week＂policy in 2001, the domestic tourism trend has been driven in Taiwan. The unspoiled natural forests, the slow pace of life, and the rich and diverse culture in Taitung have become an important reference for the travel planning of tourists. Haiduan Township located in the Central Mountain Range is an aboriginal town surrounded by mountains. The Jiaming Lake is a gift from heaven, and a unique porter industry in Haiduan Township develops from climbing of it. Although Haiduan Township has a unique mountaineering environment with a group of Bunun people who are good at mountain climbing, good physical fitness, strong carrying ability, and mountainous wisdom. Under such favorable conditions of time, location, and people, why is it still impossible to integrate the porter industry in Haiduan Township? No matter what the problems resulting from artificial factors or environmental causes, they should be faced up and solved. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the strategy of sustainable management of the porter industry in Haiduan Township, Taitung County. The research was conducted through interviews and data analysis. The research objects were porters in Haiduan Township, heads of the mountaineering enterprise, the head of the township, and the principal of the School. The results of the study are as follows: the township government regains the management power of the traditional field and returns to the management of the township government; the business opportunity is brought to the market by ＂sightseeing into agriculture＂; the township office should play the role of supporting, counseling, promoting, and seeking resources; the Red Rock Face Mountain School can intergrate into the portor industry as a field for training back-ups and guidance; the government can develop a certification for back-up and guide training and implementation. It is recommended to the government, Haiduan Township Office, Forest Service Bureau, Haiduan Township School, Hongshipingshan School and Haiduan Township Mountaineering Enterprise and other units for reference. It is expected that the porter industry of Haiduan Township will continue to operate.
