A Study of Morality in Li Yu’s Silent Operas / 李漁《無聲戲》之道德觀研究

The creation of this novel was prevalent, and it became a stable social way for the scholars who were frustrated by the imperial examination. Li Yu''s work Silent Opears based on the daily life of the people, the characters and plots are in harmony with the interaction between the family and the social person, the plot is novel and interesting, and the meaning of the disciplinary correction is also included in the text.The works can especially resonate with the general public. It is known that Li Yu’s observation of society is very subtle.

Therefore, this article uses ethical relationship as the main line of observation, and analyzes the moral concepts stated in Li Yu''s text in three levels. Li Yu''s thought is based on traditional rituals, and each couple gives different roles in marriage. Although Li Yu affirms the natural and primitive desires of men and women, it does not violate the premise of ritual law from the perspective of patriarchal society, affirming the influence of marital relations on social order. Secondly, although the main servants have a class gap between the upper and lower in the family, by obeying the traditional moral ethics, they can break through the restrictions of identity and enhance his position in the family. It can be seen that Li Yu maintains the inner spirit of ritual and morality. Finally, we talk about the difference between the ages can confirm the mutual respect and order, friends, brothers, Although due to the difference in blood relationship, the problem of profit distribution is also faced with the problem of profit distribution. Through the trial of interest, we can test the true and false of each other''s love. Behind the story, it is implied to persuade people to be good and evil, and to completely conform to the original spirit of Confucian ethics.
