A Study on the Actor Network Theory to Spatial Operation of Global Aquaculture in Rural Area - A Case Study on the Grouper Farming Industry in Taiwan / 以行動者網絡理論探究全球化下鄉村農產業的空間運作機制—以臺灣石斑魚養殖業為例

碩士 / 國立成功大學 / 都市計劃學系 / 107 / Urban planners regarded rural areas as periphery areas of cities in the past. However, most planners don't understand how life and industry work in rural areas. Therefore, this paper explores the case of the grouper farming industry, which is a global and competitive agricultural industry, to conclude the spatial operation mechanism in rural areas of Taiwan.
The study shows the first type of network is mainly in the Pingtung, and the characteristic of it is export-oriented. The second type of network is mainly in Pingtung and Kaohsiung, which is sold in the form of live fish to market and restaurants in Taiwan. The third type of network is mainly in Kaohsiung, which increases the new form of processing and branding products, and sells them to supermarkets and E-commerce in Taiwan. The fourth type of network is first developed from Tainan, focusing on the ecological farming methods and market their own products.
This paper suggests that local governments should pay attention to the different characteristics of the networks in various regions, and plan the corresponding land use and public construction to maintain the long-term and stable development of industry in rural areas in the future.
