碩士 / 國防大學 / 戰略研究所 / 107 / Since China promoted reform and opening up, its comprehensive national strength has grown rapidly and the Chinese Communist Party has also tried its best to show the world the peaceful rise of China and the image of a responsible big country. Taking the overseas escort operation in the Gulf of Aden as an example, no matter the importance of policy implementation and operation, its nature of action is a part of military diplomacy and involves the construction of national image. The escort missions in the Gulf of Aden, is a meaningful breakthrough for China, which has been long isolated in international naval co-operations. The CCP recognizes that its influence on the international community is increasing day by day. It also recognizes the importance of the national image to the development of the country. Therefore, it actively shapes the image of a responsible big country and extends its military strength to defend the expanding overseas interests and the ensuing security needs. The change of China’s attitude toward international affairs, can observed though the deployment of the Chinese navy ships to join the anti-piracy operations, China’s active operations of escort missions, and the benefit brought by these actions.
Therefore, in this paper, focusing on the major events related to escort missions operations so far in 2008 Analysis of the internal meaning of the CCP's development of escort operations can achieve the following research purposes: (1) The reasons for the CCP's participation in the Gulf of Aden. (2) The CCP implemented the implementation results and benefits of the Gulf of Aden . (3) Assess how the CCP uses the escort missions to enhance the national image.
