The Gap between Hospitality Education and Frontline Aesthetic Labor: An Emprical Study on Cabin Attendants / 餐旅教育與產業第一線美學勞務缺口之研究-以客艙服務人員為例

The so-called aesthetics economy which means that after the experience economy is in vogue; people no longer pay attention on utilitarian characteristic of products. Instead, they are turning to focus on the atmosphere and sensory stimulations. In addition, the people also began to emphasize the service experience during the process of transportation. As the domestic high-speed Rail Corporation and full-service airlines that advertised high-quality service operations which are all oriented toward improving service outcomes. Thus, that is why they depend on cabin attendant as the frontline employee for spreading corporate brand image and pay more attention on how to display a style of beauty in their service quality. In recent year, the number of students in the tourism industry related departments containing transportation services have been increasing year by year. University not only as the place which cultivates the outstanding talents but also takes into accounts the industry demand side, in order to ensure students can be quickly accepted in the job market and work smoothly as soon as possible after they graduate. So that need to make sure the curriculum planning of college will meet the required competence in the workplace and increase the skills of students to let them work in workplace quickly. The online travel platform service enables the N generations to have a variety of choices in planning travel itineraries, which can be tailored to their own preferences, and also improve the tourism autonomy in the process. Through online travel platform services and travel experiences derives customer value. The results of this study serve as a reference for the development of online travel platform services.

This study was based on document analysis to complete research. According to the suggestions from the expert, that was regarded as the key indices for the cabin attendant who needs to evaluate the required skills. In addition, the weight of each index was calculated through Analytic Network Process (ANP) by using Super Decisions. Later, it is attributed to the characteristics and the anticipated professional skills of cabin attendant in their social role as well as in the framework of “aesthetic labor”. Hence, the main purpose of this study is based on the aesthetic knowledge required by the workplace, as well as review the content of professional courses offered in universities. Thus, through calibration of requiring capacities between the academia and the industry, the students can comprehend what they need to know in their careers in the future, and also provide companies with criteria for recruiting, selection, performance management, training and development.
