Performance Evaluation of Hydrocyclone System for Separation and Volume Reduction of Comtaminated Harbor Sediments. / 水力漩流系統運用於港區浚泥粒徑分選與污染物減容之效益評估

碩士 / 國立高雄科技大學 / 海洋環境工程系 / 107 / To maintain navigable waterway in the harbor, regular dredging sediment from the harbor channel is required. The sediments are gradually polluted by heavy metals with the industrial activities increasing. The concept of international environmental protection is gradually complete to concern this issue. The relatively strict regulations on marine disposal mean that marine disposal may be completely banned in the future. However, the sediment is also a natural resource from the other hand. This study used the hydrocyclone system to separate the original sediment into the clean coarse particle and contaminated fine particles. The hydrocyclone system is a kind of physical separation method, and it is simple to operate and low cost. This study adjusted operation parameters inflow rates of 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 m3/h and slurry concentrations of 50, 100 g/L in the operation of hydrocyclone system. Three different characteristics sediments collected from the river mouths (DW, YS, CH) in Kaohsiung Harbor were used to test the operation parameters. The average copper concentrations were 193.1±7.5, 275.0±29.8, and 140.4±5.2 mg/kg for DW, YS, and CH, respectively, while the zinc concentration were 824.3±21.1, 890.1±109.3, and 585.7±9.5 mg/kg for them. The average chromium concentrations were also determined (237.3±5.2 mg/kg for DW, 129.3±7.9 for YS, and 555.9±130.4 for CH). After sorting by the hydrocyclone system, copper concentrations of underflow samples were decreased to 62.4±5.0, 109.3±74.9, 50.8±7.4 mg/kg, zinc concentration to 346.1±23.4, 303.0±294.0, 175.5±17.7 mg/kg, and chromium concentration to 115.8±4.0, 109.3±74.9, 168.8±66.4 mg/kg. There metal concentrations of underflow samples were lower than the Sediment Quality Guideline upper limits in Taiwan.
