碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋生物科技暨資源學系研究所 / 107 / This study investigates seasonal and spatial distribution of planktonic euphausiids associated with hydrographic conditions in the waters of southwestern Taiwan from January 2017 to July 2018. In total, 32 species of euphausiids belonging to 1 family and 5 genera were recognized, with mean abundance of 119 ± 19 (ind.)⁄(100m^3 ). Among them, 29 species of euphausiids belonging to 1 family and 5 genera with mean abundace of 87 ± 27 (ind.)⁄(100m^3 )were recorded in the surface tow, 28 species of euphausiids belonging to 1 family and 5 genera with mean abundace of 152 ± 28 (ind.)⁄(100m^3 ) were found in the oblique tow. The 10 predominant species, which constituted 95% of the total number of euphausiid species, were Pseudeuphausia latifrons, Stylocheiron carinatum., Euphausia spp., Stylocheiron spp., S. affine, S. suhmi, S. microphthalma, S. longicrone, S. indicum and E. tenera. Sea surface temperature, salinity and chlorophyll α concentration showed significant seasonal changes in the study area. Linear regression showed that the euphausiids abundance and diversity index were significantly and positively correlated with salinity, species number was significantly and negatively correlated with temperature. The distribution of euphausiids revealed significant seasonal and spatial differences and were influenced by the seasonal changes in hydrological environment and the diel vertical migration of euphausiids, respectively. Furthermore, the determinants of food availability also play a role in structuring euphausiid assemblages in the waters of southwestern Taiwan.
