A Numerical Study of Cold Water Upwelling in Gaoping Submarine Canyon / 以數值模式探討高屏峽谷冷水團湧升現象

碩士 / 國立中山大學 / 海洋環境及工程學系研究所 / 107 / In this study, numerical model SCHISM was applied in the research to analysis the physical process of upwelling in submarine canyon. Using three case study by different submarine canyon topography. First, we analysis the variation of flow fields caused by Coriolis in submarine canyon. Next, we discuss the effect of internal tide resulting from tidal currents. And finally, we use Gao-ping offshore topography in final case. Discussing the results of simulation driven by flow velocity, tide , and atmosphere.
Owing to the variation of Coriolis, Left-boundary flow enhanced the strength of upwelling in submarine canyon. The effects of Right-boundary flow were not pronounced. Furthermore, the topography and canyon axis changing dominant the location of upwelling. Clod water entered submarine canyon when SE flows. The currents strength enhanced by convergent isobaths topography. Upwelling appeared at north side of mid-canyon and north of LiuKyuYu island.
