Dietary Cholesterol Requirements on Growth and Reproduction of Caridina multidentata / 飼料中添加不同含量膽固醇對多齒米蝦成長及生殖之影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 水產養殖學系 / 107 / The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary cholesterol level on growth of sub-adult shrimps , ovary development and maturation of female shrimps and reproduction ability of male shrimps of Caridina multidentata.
Experiment I, sub-adult shrimps were fed with diets suppled different percentage of cholesterol: 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 % for 8 weeks. The result showed that there was no significant differences on survival rate (p > 0.05). CHO 0.5 showed the best weight gain (52.38 ± 0.01 %), SGR (0.75 ± 0.01 %) and FCR (4.09 ± 0.01 %). The growth performance of CHO 0.5 was significantly better than all the other groups (p < 0.05), but showed no significant differences between CHO 0.5 and CHO 0.25 (p > 0.05). The next one is CHO 1, which showed significantly different from CHO 0.5 (p < 0.05) but not from CHO 0.25 (p > 0.05). CHO 5 showed the worst weight gain, SGR and FCR, and was significantly worse than all the other groups (p < 0.05). The next one is CHO 0 and CHO 2, which showed no significantly differenct from each other (p > 0.05), but the weight gain and the SGR were significantly lower than CHO 1 (p < 0.05). The results showed that the growth performance increased when cholesterol was suppled less than 0.5 %, and reduced when cholesterol was suppled more than 0.5 %.
Experiment II, female shrimps were fed with diets suppled different percentage of cholesterol: 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 % for 16 weeks, and the ovary development was observed. Female shrimps get ready to copulate and spawn when their ovary develop to stage 3. The results showed that the ovary of the shrimp fed the diets suppled 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 % cholesterol developed to stage 3 at the 13th week, the 7th week, the 6th week, the 7th week, the 7th week, the 9th week, and the maximum percentage of stage 3 happened at the 15th week (25.00 ± 7.07 %), the 13th week (55.00 ± 7.07 %), the 12th week (60.00 ± 0.00 %), the 14th week (45.00 ± 7.07 %), the 15th week (20.00 ± 14.14 %), the 13th week (15.00 ± 7.07 %), respectively. The result showed that the ovary of the female shrimps fed with diet suppled 0.5 % cholesterol developed the fast, and that CHO 0.5 presented the highest maximum percentage of shrimps whose ovary developed to stage 3.
Experiment III, male shrimps were fed with diets suppled different percentage of cholesterol: 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 % for 17 weeks, and the ovigerous times and the amount of the larvae hatched by the female shrimp were observed. The results showed that CHO 1 showed the most accumulated times of ovigerous from the 1st week to the 12th week, but CHO 0.5 showed the most accumulated times of ovigerous since the 13th week and last until the end of the experiment. In addition, CHO 0.5 had the most average amount of hatching larvae (995.33 ± 85.56 larvae), and was significantly more than all the other groups (p < 0.05). The next one is CHO 0.25 (799.33 ± 17.68 larvae) and there was no significant difference from CHO 1 (761.66 ± 28.99 larvae) (p > 0.05). CHO 5 had the last average amount of hatching larvae (198.66 ± 9.19 larvae), and was significantly less than all the other groups (p < 0.05). The next one is CHO 2 (533.66 ± 38.89 larvae) and there was no significant difference from CHO 0 (608.66 ± 48.79 larvae) (p > 0.05). The results showed that male shrimps fed with diet suppled 0.5 % cholesterol could make female shrimps ovigerous the most, and also hatch the most larvae.
