A Study of the Typhoon Natural Wind Field Along Coastal Area in Changhua and Hsinchu / 彰化與新竹近海地區颱風自然風場特性探討

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 河海工程學系 / 107 / In recent years, the government has actively promoted the development of green energy. Wind power developers and wind turbine manufacturers from abroad have been working on wind farm development and wind turbine testing in deep water zone. By doing so, the land problem can be solved by reducing the influence on areas of human activities. On the other hand, greater power generation effectiveness can be achieved because of the access of better wind power. Apart from actively developing large-scale wind turbines, research institutes established by governments have set up wind resource research department to conduct nationwide researches and investigations on potential wind power by region. Thereby, based on the comprehensive understanding in the distribution of wind power potential, we can quickly find sites that are suitable for wind power exploitation as a reference. However, one of the biggest problem of wind power generation is the instability of wind. The primary condition of a good site for development is whether it has required wind resources. Therefore, the detailed planning and evaluation of a site is necessary, and it can only be done after professional assessment and planning.
This study uses the wind speed profile parameters of coastal areas in Taiwan, obtained by wind speed data from wind towers in the Changhua Coastal Industrial Park and Hsinchu coastal area, to derive the actual α value. In doing so, the natural wind field data of Taiwan coastal areas will increase.
The conclusions of this study are as the following:
The α value of the wind field in Changhua coastal area is 0.0837. Compared with the result of a previous study, which shows the α value in Hsinchu coastal area is 0.0988, theαvalue in Changhua coastal area is slightly lower. Therefore, simply based on the value of α, Changhua coastal area are more suitable in building wind turbines than Hsinchu coastal area. In addition, if we compare the actual α value with standards of different countries. It is closer to the American and Japanese standards, and further to the Taiwanese standard 0.15.
