A Study on Tsunami Disaster Prevention Education for 5th& 6th Grade of Elementary School in Keelung / 基隆市國小高年級學童海嘯防災教育之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 教育研究所 / 107 / The purpose of this study is to explore the understanding of Tsunami disaster prevention education for elementary school students in Keelung City. The research method is to use “Tsunami Disaster Prevention Education Cognition Questionnaire” and “Tsunami Disaster Prevention Education Literacy Scale” questionnaire survey method to assess in a higher grade at elementary school. The tsunami disaster prevention education cognition questionnaire's KR-20 was 0.63 and Cronbach’s αvalue for the tsunami disaster prevention education literacy scale was .93. The sample contained 520 of higher grade students of X Elementary School in Keelung City. A total of 520 questionnaires were distributed, invalid surveys were 16 and thus eliminated—resulting in 504 valid responses. The result revealed:

1.Disaster prevention and drills are the best way for students to learn about tsunami disaster prevention knowledge in Keelung City.
About the tsunami disaster prevention knowledge, 65.9% was learned from the propaganda and drill, 61.9% was learned in class.

2.The students of the elementary school still need to strengthen the tsunami disaster prevention knowledge.
The score of tsunami disaster prevention knowledge was 73 out of 100. The tsunami disaster prevention knowledge of elementary school students still needs to continue to strengthen

3.The level of the Tsunami Disaster Prevention Literacy is Good in a higher grade at elementary school.
The tsunami disaster prevention Literacy average score was 85. Students had more opportunity to learn marine education and the X school is located by downtown of Keelung City, near the harbor.

4.The 6th-grade students had a higher score of knowledge of tsunami disaster prevention.
The result of this study, the 6th-grade students, had a higher score of knowledge of tsunami disaster prevention than5th-grade students(t=-2.34,p<.05). Overall, the tsunami disaster prevention knowledge, the female score is significantly higher than the male student(t=-0.97,p<.05).


5.The attitude of the reaction in the tsunami disaster prevention situation is positive, and learning willingness is high.
Students are willing to cooperate with the school to conduct tsunami disaster prevention drills and have a positive attitude. They believe that tsunami disaster prevention is the best way to help reduce casualties and it is necessary to implement.
The result of this study showed that disaster prevention and drills could significantly affect the ability of elementary school students to respond to disasters. Eventually, the research made some suggestions for government, school, educator, and future workers.
