Research of Senior High School Teachers\' Marine Leisure Engagement and Work Stress -Based on Theory of Planned Behavior / 以計劃行為理論探討高中教師海洋休閒投入與工作壓力之相關研究

Studies based on work stress pointed out the perception of individual stress can affect the working states, even the work effectiveness. Education is the foundation of social development, and teachers are the important promoters of education. If teachers are in poor psychological conditions, their teaching effectiveness will be affected and questioned easily. Therefore, it is important to have proper ways to release the work stress. Taiwan is surrounded by the sea, so that there are abundant marine resources and suitable environment for people to do different marine leisure activities which will not only adjust physical and mental stress, but also enhance the marine literacy and the environmental awareness. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to use TPB project behavior theory to discuss the effects of senior high school teachers’ marine leisure activities engagement on their work stress, and explore senior high school teachers’ motivation and behaviors of choosing marine leisure activities.
Questionnaire survey is designed for senior high school teachers in Taipei, New Taipei and Keelung in this study. And it used convenient sampling, distributing 320 questionnaires and there were 304 questionnaires were returned with the response rate being 95%. 163 valid questionnaires were collected For understanding the effects of senior high school teachers’ marine leisure activities engagement in their work stress, the questionnaires included pre-test and post-test with comparing the respondents’ background variables. All the data are analyzed by using SPSS, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. The purpose is to confirm the relationship between marine leisure engagement and the work stress.
Conclusions of this research are as follows:
1. Marine leisure activities can alleviate the perception of work stress for the senior high school teachers.
2.There is a positive correlation between different dimensions of TPB theory and the senior high school teachers’ engagements in marine leisure activities.
3. The senior high school teachers’ attitude towards the marine leisure activities is positive, and the intention of engaging in marine leisure activities is positive as well.
Finally, at the end of this study, the focus was on the analysis and discussion of our research results. We also give suggestions for academic institutions and future studies.
