Investigation of Pre-Swirl Stators Effects to the Propeller and Rudder in Waves / 探討省能源鰭翼在波浪中對於螺槳與舵之影響

碩士 / 國立臺灣海洋大學 / 系統工程暨造船學系 / 107 / In this paper, we use P-Hull, a container ship designed by CSBC, which come with an energy-saving device, pre-swirl stator Y-Fin. Y-Fin is installed in front of the propeller and it can rotate the flow field in front of the propeller to improve the inflow of propeller and increase the propulsion efficiency. We will investigate the Y-Fin effects on wake in waves and analyze the interaction between the propeller and rudder. We compute the simulation of the flow field in calm water and in waves with RANS method, and the propeller effects are represented by body force methods. In this paper, two different approaches are used to compute the ship resistances. For the first approach, ship hull forces in calm water are all computed by the viscous flow method. The added resistance is computed by viscous flow method separately. For the other approach, only the viscous flow RANS method is used for computations. Then, the wake of a model ship with and without Y-Fin are compared and investigated and the forces of propeller and rudder are analyzed. It is found that the Y-Fin can improve the propeller propulsion efficiency in waves , the interaction between Y-Fin and propeller will reduce the variation of radial, tangential velocity in waves, the axial velocity affects the accuracy of the propeller force most, and the propeller and Y-Fin will increase the force of rudder to the starboard direction and the interaction of the Y-Fin with the rudder can increase the thrust.
