The Effects of Curatorial Public Art Project in the Development of Urban Space– A Case Study of"Shanghai Lujiazui Binjiang Financial City" / 策展型公共藝術計畫介入都市空間開發之研究- 以「上海陸家嘴濱江金融城」為例

碩士 / 國立臺北教育大學 / 文化創意產業經營學系 / 107 / "Public Arts" is a concept of creation that has long existed in the field of arts, it is both an artistic technique and public policy that emphasizes "Diversity". In recent years, "Publicity", "Artistry", and “Public arts” have reconstructed cultural memories of various regions and regional consciousness has gradually risen. In the highly urbanized environment of our world, "Public arts" becomes a good way to activate local area and reduces capitalism's destruction of local culture.
In 1992, regulations governing the installation of public artwork was issued in the Republic of China (Taiwan), since then public artworks has flourished for more than 20 years. Thousands of public artworks were scattered in public spaces. There are advantages and disadvantages to the impact of the environment and the development of the locality. However, the reality of Taiwan’s public art development is gradually getting into trouble. In order to make the environment and benefits of Taiwan’s public art more complete in the future, the bureaucracy of the public policy, the different voices from the localities, and the involvement of artists are bound to require new balance and coordination from each other.
In recent years, China has attached great importance to the cultural and creative industries. The preservation and activation of cultural assets has been in full swing. The case study: “Shanghai Lujiazui Binjiang Financial City” is located in the Lujiazui area of Shanghai, which has the site of the old shipyard in Shanghai. Land developers and builders, through the cooperation of public art projects curated by Mr. Fram Kitagawa, a well-known Japanese curator, attempted to preserve the original urban land in modern urban development. Cultural assets and humanistic historical features are expected to make this case different from the general urban development plan, and have achieved the same success as the Japan Echigo-Tsumari and the Setonai area.
Based on Lefebvre’s ”The production of space” theory and the “Spaced “ theory of Dr. Yung-Teen Annie Chiu, this thesis studies and discusses the method of public arts curation in Shanghai Lujiazui Binjiang Financial City as a means of urban development, deconstructing its planning content, from planning to execution, analyzes the Strengths, weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages from the context of the overall curated public art plan in this case, and provides suggestions for the future development of Taiwan's curated public art plans into urban development, thereby improving the efficiency of public arts in Taiwan.
