碩士 / 國立臺灣大學 / 新聞研究所 / 107 / There is a rich diversity of freshwater fishes in Taiwan, which has been closely related to the lives of Taiwanese. With the improper fishing and the rapid industrial and commercial development of Taiwan after 1960s, the speed of freshwater fishes conservation has not kept pace with the disappearance in Taiwan.
At present, in addition to 10 species of freshwater fishes that are included in conservation classes, there are still about 40-50 species of native freshwater fishes that are at risk.
This in-depth report focuses on the threat of alien invasive species, water pollution, habitat destruction and overfishing. Case-by-case shows the situation in which native freshwater fishes are threatened in Taiwan. This report also tries to find out the cause of the threat and possible solutions.
Through interviewing more than 20 scholars and people who studied freshwater fishes and contact with freshwater fishes, the disappearance crisis faced by Taiwan''s native freshwater fish was actually reported in the text and photos.
