A Study on the User Experience and Navigation Interface of Mobile Securities Application / 行動證券應用程式使用者經驗與導覽介面之研究

碩士 / 國立臺灣科技大學 / 設計系 / 107 / With the rapid development in digital finance and mobile technology, the way how people conduct financial trading has gradually altered the traditional way of management long practiced by the securities industry. Securities investment oriented APPs have become the main channel for modern investment and wealth management. This research study is conducted based on the relevant literatures in the past. Moreover, using surveys and experiments on the current use of mobile securities APPs, the conclusion is drawn on the characteristics of the securities investment operation and mobile devise interface design. These characteristics are further used to integrate and improve the interface operation models. Three interface prototype designs, each with its own navigation menu model are developed. The research participants are invited by way of purposive sampling. The experiment is conducted based on the two-factor experimental design with 2 (user experiences) x 3 (navigation menu models) to discuss the impact of these three different navigation menu models on their operational performances when the participants use the mobile securities APPs.
The research results revealed that: (1) The participants’ time spent on mobile securities APPs per day is within one hour; (2) The most used software, in the order of usage frequency, are stock index queries, user selected group, financial news, stock price queries, account inquiry and securities trading; (3) In terms of task-based operation performance, the “Springboard” menu provides the best visibility and easiest switch among different functions. Compared to the other two navigation menus, the participants both with and without prior experiences give the highest scores to the “Springboard” menu; (4) In terms of usability questionnaire, the single-menu path design helps reduce users’ time to explore and increase their learning efficiency. Memory can be created within a short period of time which subsequently enhances the operational performances; (5) Regarding mental workload scale, participants lacking prior experiences require more time to comprehend the technical terms of the securities and finance industry and terms describing different functions in the interface. As a result, their mental workloads have increased which decrease their willingness to use; (6) In term of system usability scale (SUS), the three experimented navigation menus have all scored above the average of 68 points. Nonetheless, the participants have given the “Springboard” navigation menu the highest rating.
