碩士 / 國立臺北藝術大學 / 劇場藝術創作研究所 / 107 / This dissertation explains the director's thoughts and gives detailed records through the process of production, The Sea. The play took place in May 2017 at the Experimental Theatre 305 of Taipei National University of Arts. The playwright of The Sea, Yi-chu Lee, also graduated from the School of Theatre Arts of TNUA in 2008, majoring play writing. The Sea was her representative work for graduation and won her the First Prize in 17th Taipei Literature Award.
The first chapter of this dissertation discussed the initial concept of the director's creation and the connection of her personal life to this play. The playwrite, Yi-chu Lee, is introduced in the second chapter with her background. The writer's concept on creation is included as well in the same chapter. The interpretation of the director on the play will be furthur explained in the third chapter. With the notion of DREAM, how she reflects the story to reality and imaginative world. The fourth chapter analyzes the script and the necessary alterations in certain scenes. The next chapter elaborates on process of the production, starting from workshops in preparation to minor modifications of each scene before premiere. Performance reviews and conclusions of this dissertation are in the last chapter with related attachment files and bibliography tagged on.
