The Development and Evaluation of Mobile Health Self-care Application for Breast Cancer Women:A Pilot Study / 乳癌婦女行動健康自我照護系統建構與成效探討:前驅研究

碩士 / 國立陽明大學 / 護理學系 / 107 / The purpose of this study was to design a mobile health self-care application (App) with the characteristics of pervasiveness and convenience of mobile technology to assist breast cancer women facing the challenges of the disease process. Further, to explore the effectiveness of breast cancer women when using the mobile health self-care system.
The research was divided into two phases. The first phase was to develop and construct a mobile care system, including the content analysis, user interface design and programming. The second phase was using purposive sampling to recruit breast cancer women participating App trial focus group activities and responing mobile service technology acceptance model based questionnaire for pilot evaluating the effectiveness of the system. The statistical analysis methods including descriptive statistics, nonparametric statistics and regression analysis were used to analyze the effectiveness, correlations and important predictors of the App.
The results showed that (1) the App for Android version with seven main functions including “disease information”, “exercise”, “diet”, “pleasure”, “self-record”, ”resource connection”, “tell” was implemented but fuction “questions” was not completed yet. (2) a total of 45 breast cancer women participated the evaluation and the results of effectiveness using by questionnaire, overall score in average was 4.04 ± 0.36 points, that the highest score was ease of use (4.14 ± 0.42 points), followed by attitude (4.12 ± 0.57 points), and the reliability (3.60±0.47 points) is the lowest score, thus evaluating the positive affirmation of the system. Furthermore, the results by inferential statistics analysis showed that using multiple types mobile operating systems and often using mobile camera function can predict perceived value and perceived ease of use of breast cancer women's use of mobile health self-care systems, and then predict satisfaction of using mobile health self-care systems.
In the future study, we would like to suggest to develop the App for iOS version, which will allow more breast cancer women to adopt this system; to increase the number of participants that grouped by disease treatment stage for getting more comprehensive results to meets more self-care needs for women with breast cancer. The results of this study are expected to provide future references on the development of cancer-related systems and expect cancer patients to increase their sense of disease control and confidence through a mobile health self-care application to improve their quality of life.
