Environmental sanitation and water pollution of rivers are likewise increasingly valued. The good sewage system plays an important role insolving urban sewage discharge, preventing water pollution in river, and improving the nature of living environment.
This study explores the causes and the solutions for the construction delays by reviewing the contractual terms and relative literature reviews and analyzing cases of the construction delay. The solutions will be proposed for the contractor to prevent and solve construction delays.
The results deduced from the interviews conducted in this study show that the construction of sewage system often encounters problems such as pipeline barriers, geological unfamiliarity, and changes in design, road permit application period, traffic maintenance, and neighboring operations, all of which are important factors for the smooth completion of the project as scheduled. At present, there are not many sewer manufacturers who have considerable practical experience. When problems arise, manufacturers should be able to resolve the issues independently in order to prevent a project shutdown. Uneven geology could cause worn-out or pulled out of the machine head, and the maintenance or repair could take so long time that it may slow down the entire construction progress. In addition, traffic maintenance may also cause delay as manufacturers need to coordinate the bus route, and the plan must be submitted and approved by the agency before continuing the constructions.
If above factors may slow down the project or even cause delays, the results that this study recommended can be used to carry out the geological drilling density operation first to understand the geological properties in advance. It is also recommended to carry out trial and excavation work before design to provide the construction company with the location of the civil pipeline. In addition, the road permit related work should be applied before the start of the construction in order to effectively solve the problems encountered by the contractor during the construction period.
