Fishing vessel optimization : a design tool

Rising fuel costs and decreased catch sizes have reduced the fishing vessel owners profit margin. This has caused the owners to try to find methods that reduce the costs of their operations. In this thesis a tool which can be used by fishing vessel designers, and operators, is developed for use at the preliminary ship design stage. It is used to determine the best fishing vessel parameters for a given operational scenario found on the West Coast of Canada. / Applied Science, Faculty of / Mechanical Engineering, Department of / Graduate
