Introducción: en el estudio del TEL han cobrado importancia aspectos cognitivos como memoria, función ejecutiva y atención. A pesar de la importancia que tiene evaluar dichas habilidades en estos niños, en Chile tal procedimiento no se toma en cuenta para el diagnóstico. Con esta investigación se pretende describir el desempeño en algunas tareas neuropsicológicas en niños con TEL entre los 6 años y los 7 años 11 meses sobre la base de la aplicación de la batería NEPSY II.
Método: la muestra constó de 30 niños, 15 con TEL y 15 con desarrollo típico de lenguaje, pareados por género y curso. Para asegurar el carácter voluntario de la participación en el estudio, se envió un consentimiento informado a los apoderados. Los participantes fueron seleccionados según el diagnóstico realizado por el fonoaudiólogo, complementado con: Cuestionario Audiológico para Padres, Test de Matrices Progresivas de RAVEN, y EDNA. En el grupo control se confirmará el desarrollo típico del lenguaje a través de pruebas de lenguaje, además de las ya mencionadas.
Resultados: se evidenciaron diferencias significativas entre ambos grupos, resultando un menor rendimiento de los niños con TEL, con respecto a los del grupo control, en las habilidades neuropsicológicas de atención, función ejecutiva, y lenguaje.
Discusión: las habilidades neuropsicológicas deficitarias obtenidas por los niños con TEL, concuerdan con la información existente en la literatura sobre las dificultades que presentan estos niños.
Conclusión: se acepta la hipótesis planteada en un inicio acerca del desempeño deficitario en las habilidades evaluadas a través de distintos subtests en los niños con TEL. (Inhibición, atención auditiva, response set y velocidad de inhibición, pertenecientes a las áreas de atención, función ejecutiva y lenguaje). / Introduction: In the studies about Specific Language Impairment (SLI), some
aspects such as memory, executive functions and attention, have been taken
more in account. Although the importance of this neuropsychological functions in
this children. In Chile they are not taken into account in the diagnostic process.
With this investigation we pretend to describe the performance in some
neuropsychological tasks, of children with SLI, between the 6 years and the 7
years and 11 months, through the application of NEPSY II.
Method: The sample is conformed by 30 children in total, 15 with SLI and 15 with
typical language development which were pared by genre and level. To assure
the voluntary participation of each of the children, an informed consentment was
given to their parents. The participants of the study were selected following the
diagnostic given by the language specialist, and by the parallel application of the
Audiologic Cuestionary for parents, RAVEN and EDNA. In the control group, it
will be confirmed that they have typical language impairment through different
language tests, apart from the ones recently mentioned.
Results: Significant differences were found between both groups, in which the
group in study had a lower performance than the control group, in the
neuropsychological functions of attention, executive functions and language.
Discussion: The neuropsychological abilities that appeared to be low in the control
group , is concordant with the information found in various investigations about
the difficulties that children with SLI have.
Conclusion: The hypothesis of this study, about the lower performance of the
children with SLI in the abilities evaluated with the different subtests, is accepted.
