Tesis para optar al grado de Magíster en Estudios de Género y Cultura en América Latina mención Humanidades / El presente trabajo tiene por objeto indagar en los discursos que alumnas y alumnos de Segundo Año Medio construyen para elegir entre el área científica o humanista y como proyectan sus futuros académicos, profesionales y laborales. Nos interesa saber cómo la familia, la escuela, las motivaciones personales, los pares y sus propias proyecciones futuras influyen en la elección de las áreas académicas. Para ello, entrevistamos a nueve alumnas y nueve alumnos pertenecientes a colegios emblemáticos de niñas, de varones y mixtos y de colegios particulares subvencionados mixtos de la ciudad de Santiago, con el fin de recoger sus discursos y analizarlos cualitativamente desde la perspectiva de género y poder entender cómo elaboran y materializan dichos mandatos en sus decisiones y proyecciones académicas y de vida. / The following dissertation aims to investigate on how secondary students built their discourses to choose between the scientific or humanistic area and how they plan their academic, professional and labour future. We want to inquiry into how the family, the school, their personal motivations, the peers and their own future projections influence their choice in their decision-making. To do this, we interviewed nine female students and nine male students belonging to traditional secondary schools for girls, for boys and to mixed traditional schools and students belonging to mixed subsidised private secondary schools from Santiago, in order to collect their speeches and analyse them using the qualitative technique and the gender perspective to understand how they develop those gender mandates in their personal decisions and academic life projections.
