Orientador: Suraya Cristina Darido / As dificuldades enfrentadas pelas mulheres para terem acesso à prática do futebol no Brasil, levantaram os primeiros questionamentos que resultaram no "embrião" do presente estudo. A partir de consultas à bibliografia específica e de alguns estudos sobre o assunto, verifiquei uma necessidade de re-direcionamento do objeto de estudo, visando trazer contribuições à prática docente através de uma reflexão sobre as circunstâncias em que se desenvolvem propostas co-educativas de Educação Física nas escolas da rede pública do Estado de São Paulo. O objetivo do estudo configura-se na análise da co-educação por meio do futebol do ponto de vista discente e docente, apontando para os elementos que favorecem e dificultam o desenvolvimento destas propostas. O estudo foi desenvolvido com uma 8.ª série do Ensino Fundamental, de uma escola da rede pública estadual do município de Rio Claro-SP, através da realização de um programa de futebol em turma mista, cujas aulas foram ministradas pelo próprio pesquisador, que procurou através de observações das aulas, discussões em aulas e entrevistas em grupos, investigar as possibilidades de uma proposta co-educativa por intermédio do futebol. Os resultados encontrados foram categorizados em três grupos interdependentes: cultura escolar, relações de gênero e co-educação. A cultura escolar revelou-se de fundamental importância no desenvolvimento de qualquer proposta de Educação Física, tendo em vista que a resistência a mudanças de uma maneira geral manisfestada pelos alunos, exige estratégias de aproximação, investigação e conquistas por parte do professor, propiciando gradativamente a implementação de novos projetos. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo). / The idea to conduct the following study arose from my experience of witnessing how difficult it is in Brazil for women who want to access training facilities in order to play football. Having consulted and studied specific sources of information pertaining to the subject, I have concluded that there is a need to review the way in which the present policy of co-education in Physical Education is being implemented in public schools in the State of São Paulo. The aim of my study has been to analyze the practice of co-education by football as it is relevant both to the student and teacher bodies, highlighting the positive and negative aspects therein, with a view to making further improvements where possible in the future. The study was developed using research carried out on a fourth form class at a public high school in Rio Claro, SP. The class participated in a program of mixed-sex football coaching, which was developed by the researcher with the aim of producing an approach to football coaching based on co-education. This involved the researcher teaching lessons, carrying out observations, fielding discussions and conducting interviews with the students involved. The results were then collated and categorized into three interdependent groups: school culture, gender relationship and co-education. It was found that school culture was of fundamental importance in terms of developing these aims in Physical Education as the generally observed resistance of students to change made it necessary for the teacher develop an innovative range of strategies and approaches in order to overcome this and implement new projects effectively.
