Orientador: José Joaquim Titton Ranzani / Resumo: A cirurgia de extração de catarata é uma realidade freqüente na Oftalmologia Veterinária, que o avanço das técnicas e materiais utilizados torna possível a tentativa da recuperação visual, visando um olho emétrope. No presente estudo foram utilizados 20 animais da espécie canina (Canis familiaris - LINNAEUS, 1758) de raças e idades variadas, machos e fêmeas, portadores de catarata e não diabéticos, os quais foram submetidos ao exame oftálmico completo. Posteriormente realizaram-se mensurações oculares por meio de um ecobiômetro ultra-sônico (ultra-sonografia modo-A) para o cálculo do poder da lente intra-ocular através da fórmula SRK/T obtendo uma média de comprimento axial de 19,94l1,12mm. A lente calculada foi implantada no trans-operatório da cirurgia de catarata chegando em uma média de 37,33l3,05 dioptrias. Todos os animais foram submetidos a facoemulsificação, sendo divididos em dois grupos; G1 (com lente intra-ocular) e G2 (sem lente intra-ocular). A avaliação pós-cirúrgica do erro refracional, realizada nos animais operados aos 60 dias de pós-operatório pela retinoscopia, com a utilização da esquiascopia, foi de 5,57l1,59D verificando-se que a fórmula SRK/T não obteve um bom desempenho. / Abstract: Cataract surgery is a frequent reality in veterinary ophthalmology, which with the advance of the new techniques and materials used makes it possible the effort for a visual rehabilitation, aiming an emetropic eye. Twenty animals of the canine species (Canis familiaris - LINNAEUS, 1758) of varied breed and age, males and females, bearers of cataract and non-diabetics, where used in this study and submitted to a complete ophthalmic examination. Afterwards ocular measurements where realized by an echobiometry ultrasound (A-scan ultrasound) for the intraocular lens power calculation by the SRK/T formula obtaining a mean axial length of 19,94l1,12mm. The calculated lens was implanted during the cataract surgery achieving a mean value of 37,33l3,05 dioptry. All animals where submitted to phacoemulsification, being divided in two groups; G1 (with intraocular lens) and G2 (without intraocular lens). The post surgical evaluation of the refractional error, with the utilization of the retinoscopy, was of 5,57l1,59D, showing that the SRK/T formula did not have a good performance. / Mestre
