Orientador: Ivan Aparecido Manoel / Banca: Ney de Souza / Banca: Áureo Busetto / Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a dinâmica da tentativa de modernidade no interior do movimento social e semanário Brasil, Urgente (1961-1964). Para que essa proposta fosse levada a cabo, percorremos as seguintes etapas: a) buscamos delimitar, num primeiro momento, as raízes históricas da tentativa de modernidade no Brasil, considerando o contexto maior abrangido por esse processo histórico e o desenvolvimento na Igreja de uma Doutrina Social que buscou interpretar alguns valores enfatizados por uma das matrizes da tentativa de modernidade como, por exemplo, a valorização dos direitos inalienáveis do homem e do cidadão, a democracia, a luta pela igualdade social, o socialismo, o comunismo, entre outros. Assim, a sugestão na primeira parte da pesquisa se resume a estudar as bases de uma, grosso modo, modernidade pretendida pela Igreja Católica (fazemos alusão ao seu mundo clerical, sobretudo a fração dominante, cujo representante máximo é o pontífice); b) Seguidamente, intentamos evidenciar que as interpretações dos leigos a respeito da modernidade pretendida pela Igreja foram as mais diversas possíveis. Para demonstrar essa diferença entre a posição oficial da instituição eclesiástica e a atitude dos leigos escolhemos historiar a parte do laicato católico que radicalizou as propostas do ensino social da Igreja num fenômeno também intitulado de esquerdização. Dentre as manifestações desse grupo de cristãos numericamente pequeno, porém muito influente, delimitamos como fonte de estudo o já citado Brasil, Urgente; c) O resultado direto desse movimento social foi a criação, em 1963, de um semanário de circulação nacional (que levava o mesmo nome do movimento); d) por meio da análise dos artigos e reportagens publicados nas páginas combativas desse jornal, pretendemos verificar qual o formato assumido... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The objective of this work is to analyze the dynamics of the modernity attempt inside the social movement and weekly publication Brazil, Urgent (1961-1964). So that this proposal was carried out, we went through the following stages: the) we tried to delimit, in a first moment, the historical roots of the modernity attempt in Brazil, considering the larger context included by that historical process and the development - in the Church - of a Social Doctrine that attempted to interpret some values emphasized by one of the basis of the modernity attempt - as, for instance, the valorization of the man's and the citizens inalienable rights, the democracy, the fight for the social equality, the socialism, the communism, among others. This way, the suggestion in the first part of the research is to study the bases of a modernity intended by the Catholic Church (we refer to its clerical world, above all the dominant fraction, whose maximum representative is the pope); b) Continuously, we attempted to evidence that the interpretations of the lay ones regarding the modernity intended by the Church were as varied as possible. In order to demonstrate that difference - between the official position of the ecclesiastical institution and the attitude of the lay ones - we chose to recount the part of the Catholic laicato that radicalized the proposals of the social teaching of the Church - in a phenomenon also entitled of left-winging. Among the manifestations of that group of Christians numerically small, however very influential -, we delimited as study source the already mentioned Brazil, Urgent; c) The direct result of that social movement was the creation, in 1963, of a weekly publication of national circulation (that took the same name of the movement); d) through the analysis of the articles and reports published in the combative pages...
