Esta abordagem propicia o entendimento da participação de alguns setores da sociedade na formação das identidades negras, discute as representações culturais e sociais expressas nas memórias da escravidão, bem como suscita reflexões referentes às relações raciais na segunda metade do século XX em São Paulo. / Abstract: This thesis analyzes the commemorative's dates and the symbols of black's history in the discourses of the press and in the black activist's speeches. This approach allows the understanding of the participation of some sectors of society on the development of black identities; it also discusses the cultural and social representations expressed on the memories of slavery and, finally, gives rise to reflections about racial relations in the last half of twentieth century, in São Paulo. / Doutor
