Resumo: A avaliação da função dos músculos do assoalho pélvico (MAP) é relevante na identificação das disfunções urinárias. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar e comparar a eletromiografia (EMG) à avaliação objetiva do AP em mulheres nulíparas continentes. Foram avaliadas 50 mulheres nulíparas, com média de idade de 23 anos. Os critérios de inclusão foram: interesse em participar do estudo como voluntárias saudáveis, ausência de queixas urinárias; faixa etária entre 20 a 30 anos. Foram obtidos dados pessoais e de história clínica utilizando um questionário. O índice de massa corpórea (IMC) foi aferido e classificado segundo Garrow. Foi realizada avaliação objetiva do AP utilizando o perineômetro. A avaliação eletromiográfica foi realizada utilizando-se um aparelho modelo Myotrac Infiniti 3G, que registra a atividade elétrica em microwolts (µV). As mulheres foram colocadas em posição ginecológica, os eletrodos colocados na região subcostal para captação dos músculos oblíquos. O eletrodo vaginal foi introduzido no intróito em duas posições: vertical e horizontal em relação aos MAP. Foi medida a atividade muscular em repouso e a força, durante as 3 contrações rápidas e 3 sustentadas, com repouso de 5 segundos entre as contrações. A área da endurance foi calculada utilizando-se o software Scion Image®.Observou-se atividades físicas regulares em 58% das mulheres. O índice de massa corpórea foi de 21,76 Kg/m2. Na medida objetiva da força muscular do AP utilizando perineômetro nas quatro diferentes posições a força muscular foi significativamente maior na posição sentada e em pé em relação às demais posições. Na avaliação da EMG as amplitudes máxima da contração rápida e média da contração sustentada, e endurance foram significativamente maiores com eletrodo na posição vertical em relação a horizontal. A força... (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The assessment of the function of pelvic floor muscles (PFM) is relevant for the identification of urinary dysfunctions. This study aimed at assessing and comparing electromyography (EMG) with objective evaluation of PFM strength in continent nulliparous women. A total of 50 nulliparous women with mean age of 23 years were assessed. Inclusion criteria were interest in participating in the study as a healthy volunteer, absence of urinary complaints, age between 20 and 30 years. Personal information and clinical history were obtained using a questionnaire. Body mass index was measured and classified according to Garrow. The objective evaluation of PFM strength was performed using a perioneometer. Electromyographic evaluation was performed with a Myotrac Infiniti 3G apparatus that records electric activity in microvolts (µV). Subjects were placed in gynecological position and electrodes were placed in the subcostal region to assess the oblique muscles. The vaginal electrode was introduced in the introitus in two positions, vertically and horizontally to PFM. Muscle activity was measured at rest and force was measured during 3 rapid contractions and 3 sustained contractions with a 5-second rest interval between contractions. Endurance area was calculated with software Scion Image®. Regular physical activity was observed in 58% of the women. Body mass index was 21.76 kg/m2. The objective evaluation of PF muscles with a perioneometer in four different positions showed that muscle strength was significantly higher while sitting and standing, as compared with the other positions. EMG revealed that the maximum amplitude over rapid contraction and mean sustained contraction, as well as endurance, were significantly higher when the electrode was in the upright position than in the horizontal position.
