Brito / Resumo: Neste trabalho pretendeu-se discutir o papel do ensino da música nos diferentes períodos históricos, a partir da promulgação da primeira Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional, procurar entender como a mesma tem sido tratada no contexto educacional e quais políticas públicas que a têm norteado. O primeiro capítulo trata dos termos conceituais que envolvem a política educacional brasileira, os aspectos históricos dessas políticas e da educação brasileira, dentro do contexto social, feito por meio de pesquisas bibliográficas em textos relevantes para o assunto. O segundo capítulo versa sobre a arte na educação brasileira enfocando-se a prática musical nas escolas de ensino fundamental no qual se faz um histórico da educação musical no Brasil. No terceiro capítulo, enfocam-se as políticas públicas que norteiam a educação, as Leis, Decretos, Órgãos ligados a ela, os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais, tratando os seus objetivos dentro da disciplina Artes e, mais especificamente, da Música. No quarto capítulo, considerou-se a visão de alguns educadores por meio de entrevistas. No quinto capítulo, fez-se a análise de questionários que foram aplicados aos professores de Artes da rede pública estadual e municipal do Estado de São Paulo. A análise é qualitativa, visto que, para chegar-se a um panorama da prática musical do ensino público paulista, faz-se necessário entender o processo. / Abstract: The intention of this project work is was discuss the role of the music education in the different periods of the history, since the First Law of Polices and Bases of National Education. It has intended to understand how it has been conducted in the educational context and which public polices has been driven the music education. The first chapter is regarding to the concept terms that involve the Brazilian Public Police, the historic aspects of these polices and the Brazilian Education within the social context, done by biographic researches in relevant texts regarding the subject. The second chapter describes on the arts in the Brazilian Education focusing on the Musical Brazilian Education. In the third chapter, the focus are on the public polices which drives the education, the laws, decrees, organizations linked to musical education, the national curricular parameters, treating the purposes inside the Arts Discipline and more specifically inside the Music Discipline. In the fourth chapter it was considered the vision of some musical educators through interviews. In the fifth chapter it has been done the analysis in questionnaires that were applied to teachers of arts in the Schools of São Paulo Concil Schools and São Paulo State of the public education network. The analysis is qualitative, since to reach a panorama of the musical practice of public education in São Paulo, it is necessary to understand the process. / Mestre
