Orientador: Raquel Mantuanelli Scarel Caminaga / Banca: Márcia Pinto Alves Mayer / Banca: Joni Augusto Cirelli / Resumo: A Doença Periodontal (DP) é uma doença infecciosa de caráter multifatorial causada por microrganismos periodontopatogênicos e influenciada por fatores como: suscetibilidade genética do hospedeiro, reação do sistema imune, hábito de fumar e doenças sistêmicas. Estudos recentes realizados por nosso grupo verificaram indivíduos com predisposição genética à periodontite crônica, mesmo após ajustes para idade, gênero, cor da pele e hábito de fumar. Tal predisposição genética foi determinada pela presença de um haplótipo formado por polimorfismos no gene IL8. O objetivo do presente estudo é comparar a microbiota subgengival de sítios afetados ou não pela DP, antes e após 45 dias do tratamento periodontal não-cirúrgico em indivíduos geneticamente suscetíveis e não suscetíveis à periodontite crônica. Dessa forma, será possível saber se, entre indivíduos geneticamente suscetíveis e não suscetíveis à DP, ocorrem diferenças qualitativa e/ou quantitativa de microrganismos periodontopatogênicos. Também se pretende avaliar se indivíduos geneticamente suscetíveis e não suscetíveis à DP respondem diferentemente ao tratamento periodontal não-cirúrgico, por meio da análise de parâmetros clínicos e microbiológicos. Foram selecionados 65 indivíduos divididos quanto à presença ou não do referido haplótipo ATC/TTC no gene IL8, de forma que os indivíduos "suscetíveis" e "não suscetíveis" à DP foram subdivididos quanto à presença ou ausência de periodontite crônica. Os pacientes selecionados foram submetidos a novo exame clínico periodontal e coleta de placa subgengival antes e 45 dias após tratamento periodontal. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Periodontal disease (PD) is a multifactorial disease caused by periodontopathogenic microorganisms and influenced by factors such as genetic susceptibility, reaction of the immune system, smoking and the occurrence of systemic diseases. Recent studies carried out by this group have observed individuals with a genetic predisposition to periodontitis even after adjusting for covariates such as age, gender, skin color and smoking. Such genetic predisposition was determined by the haplotype presence formed by IL8 gene polymorphisms. The purpose of this study is to compare the subgingival microbiota of sites with and without PD, before and after 45 days of non-surgical periodontal treatment in individuals who are genetically susceptible and non susceptible to PD. In this way, it will be possible to know if there are qualitative/quantitative differences of periodontopathogenic microorganisms between individuals who are genetically susceptible and non susceptible to PD, and if between these groups, there is differential influence on non-surgical periodontal treatment on the clinical and microbiological parameters. Sixty-five individuals were selected and divided regarding the presence or not of that ATC/TTC haplotype in the IL8 gene. The "susceptible" and the "non susceptible" individuals were subdivided about the presence or absence of PD. In each group there are patients with and without periodontitis. The selected patients were submitted to a new periodontal exam and had their gingival fluid collected before and after 45 days of periodontal treatment.
