Orientador: Eliane Mauerberg de Castro / Banca: Adriana Indes de Paula / Banca: José Aparecido da Silva / Resumo: Existem vários fatores que influenciam na construção e reconstrução da imagem corporal, dentre eles pode-se citar gênero, idade e cultura, assim como uma experiência traumática, ou uma disfunção por alguma deficiência (i.e. perda de um membro), que pode levar a uma possível distorção da própria imagem associando-se a sentimentos sobre incapacidade física e influências sociais sobre aparência. Nesse sentido, a percepção da imagem corporal, por ser um fenômeno multifacetado, sofre modificações a todo instante e influências do ambiente. Porém, detectar precocemente sinais de distorção de imagem corporal requer sensibilidade e complexidade nas avaliações e na escolha do instrumento adequado. O objetivo geral deste estudo foi identificar aspectos perceptivos e afetivos da imagem corporal de indivíduos adultos acometidos por hemiplegia ou hemiparesia, após acidente vascular encefálico (AVE) (GAVE) e de adultos sem deficiência (GSD) em tarefas psicofísicas de estimativa e escolha de dimensões corporais em projeções do próprio corpo na sua forma completa ou bisseccionada. Para tanto, esta pesquisa foi dividida em dois estudos. A ênfase do primeiro estudo, foi implementar a avaliação psicofísica no GSD usando tarefas de percepção de dimensões corporais com tarefas de escolha e estimação de magnitude de imagens inteiras e bisseccionadas, tanto da própria pessoa como de uma pessoa desconhecida. Neste estudo, participaram 9 mulheres e 8 homens adultos sem alterações físicas e neurológicas. No segundo estudo, sob os mesmos procedimentos do primeiro estudo, a meta foi aplicar a avaliação psicofísica da imagem corporal em pessoas com AVE. They are gender, age and culture, as well as a traumatic experience, or a dysfunction of disability (i.e. loss of a limb or paralysis), which can lead to a potential distortion of the image associated with negative feelings about physical disability and social influences on appearance. In this sense, the perception of body image, as a multifaceted phenomenon, undergoes to continuing changes and is influenced by environmental contexts. However, early detection of signs of body image distortion requires sensitivity and complex evaluation, as well as rigor in the selection of appropriate assessment tools. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify perceptual and attitudinal aspects of body image in adults affected by hemiplegia or hemiparesis after stroke, and in adults without disabilities. We used a psychophysical task of body size estimation and body size preference using distorted projections of the own entire body and bisected body side (i.e., left and right side). Thus, this research was divided into two studies. The emphasis of the first study was on implementing the psychophysical assessment in individuals without disability by means of perception tasks using body distorted sizes. Participants estimated the magnitude of the whole body as well as the bisected body images. The tasks included projection of one self's body and of a stranger's body. This study included none females and eight males without physical or neurological impairment.
