Orientador: Jorge Vicente Valentim / Banca: Maria Lúcia Outeiro Fernandes / Banca: Luci Ruas Pereira / Resumo: O presente trabalho tem como objetivo pesquisar as relações intertextuais existentes entre o romance Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira, de José Saramago, e as reflexões propostas pelo pensamento de Martin Heidegger (1889-1976). Tendo como ponto central a obra Ser e Tempo (1927), e a partir de questões como o ser e a verdade, tentaremos estabelecer parâmetros possíveis de leitura da representação da "cegueira", apresentada e criada por Saramago, capaz de afetar o homem contemporâneo. Delimitando como palco de atuação o mundo denominado pela crítica como "pós-moderno", é nosso intuito apresentar e questionar algumas teorizações sobre o pós-modernismo e refletir sobre sua correspondência com a sociedade atual e suas consequentes correlações com a ficção de Saramago. Servirão, também, como acicate ao pensamento interpretativo, conceitos filosóficos heideggerianos, tais como pre-sença, ser-no-mundo, impessoal, angústia, e ser-para-a-morte. A verdade será (des)construída, principalmente no sentido de evidenciar que o sujeito racional perdeu sua força dentro da trama complexa do mundo pós-moderno. Pensaremos, também, neste sujeito cego e sua caminhada por uma cidade labiríntica. A realidade tornou-se plural e o homem não pode enxergar mais sua segurança epistemológica. Procuraremos perceber como o romancista português utilizase destes dados, através de uma dominante ontológica, para problematizar o ser humano e seu vínculo com um mundo marcado por um estado de "cegueira", e assim, através da ficção, compor seus questionamentos pautados na ética e na existência / Abstract: The objective of the present work is to research the existent relation between José Saramago‟s novel Ensaio sobre a Cegueira, and the reflections offered by Martin Heidegger (1889-1976). Based in the philosophic work Ser e Tempo (1927), by Heidegger, as our main point, and in accordance with questions as being and truth, we have tried to establish possible parameters to interpret the "blindness" proposed by José Saramago, capable of affecting the contemporary man. We have the post-modern world as the center stage with the intention to expose and to ask about the postmodernism and to reflect about the relation between contemporary society and the consequent relation with Saramago's fiction. Heideggerian concepts will be used as incentive to comprehend Saramago's ideas as dasein, being-in-the-world, who, angst, and being-towards-death. The truth will be deconstructed to show that the rational subject lost his strength inside the complex postmodern world. We'll also think about this blind subject and his walk through a maze city. The reality became plural and the human being could no longer see his epistemological safety. We'll try to understand how the Portuguese writer has utilized these data through an ontological dominant to analyze the human being and his connection with a world marked by a state of blindness, and then, through the fiction, to establish his questionings based on ethic and existence / Mestre
