Orientador: Diva Cardoso de Camargo / Banca: Marilei Amadeu Sabino / Banca: Waldenor Barros Moraes Filho / Resumo: As publicações científicas e o número de estudantes, mestres e doutores são meios de avaliar um sistema acadêmico e, nesses quesitos, a situação do Brasil está em franca evolução. Por esta razão, medidas que tendam a viabilizar ou auxiliar, ainda que minimamente, algum desenvolvimento na produção científica em língua inglesa poderá interferir no fator de impacto da ciência brasileira, trazendo resultados positivos. É bem neste ponto que convergem as teorias da Tradução e da Terminologia. É preciso reconhecer que a aproximação desses dois universos articula uma relação de complementaridade, que, atualmente, mostra-se necessária a uma boa prática técnico-científica. Foram justamente estes aspectos que nos motivaram a realizar uma pesquisa em tradução de língua de especialidade e, para isso, escolhemos o sensoriamento remoto. Este trabalho tem como objetivos: identificar, por meio de chavicidade, os termos e expressões presentes nesta literatura em inglês e proceder à busca de seus equivalentes ou correspondentes em português e, então, criar um glossário bilíngue inglês português dos termos simples, expressões fixas e semifixas mais recorrentes na literatura de sensoriamento remoto. Para desenvolver esta pesquisa, tomamos por fundamentação, principalmente, os Estudos da Tradução Baseados em Corpus. Essa abordagem teórico-metodológica, relativamente recente, tem permitido investigações inovadoras a respeito da linguagem em grandes corpora com a ajuda de ferramentas eletrônicas. Esta vertente de pesquisa foi proposta por Baker (1993, 1995, 1996) e, no Brasil, destacam-se as pesquisas realizadas por Camargo (2004, 2005, 2007). Além destas, o arcabouço teórico-metodológico também é composto pela Linguística de Corpus (BERBER SARDINHA, 2004, 2009; TOGNINI-BONELLI, 2001) e, pela Terminologia (BARROS, 2004; KRIEGER; FINATTO, 2004). The remote sensing was choose because it is a technology for capturing images and data from the energy reflected by Earth's surface using optical-electronic sensors. This study aims to identify, through keyness, the terms and expressions present in this literature in English and then search their equivalents or correspondents in Portuguese in order to create a bilingual glossary English Portuguese with the terms, fixed and semifixed expressions more recurrent in remote sensing literature. To develop this research, we rely on the theory of the Corpus-Based Translation Studies. This relatively recent theoretical-methodological approach has allowed innovative investigations about language in large corpora with the help of electronic tools. This research methodology was proposed by Baker (1993, 1995, 1996) and, in Brazil, we highlight the research conducted by Camargo (2004, 2005, 2007).
