Orientador: Romualdo Dias / Banca: Dulcineia Fatima Ferreira Pereira / Banca: Aldo Ambrozio / Resumo: Apresentamos os resultados de nossa análise do projeto pedagógico da "Escola da Vida" (The School of Life) com sede em Londres e em funcionamento sob a orientação do filósofo suíço Alain de Botton. Analisamos o projeto pedagógico a partir do estudo do processo educacional e do material didático desta escola. O nosso ponto de partida se constitui pela hipótese de que nesta escola está em curso o programa de desenvolvimento de uma suposta "espiritualidade laica". Perguntamos sobre as implicações deste princípio para a chamada sociedade pósmoderna, concebida enquanto situada entre uma forma de vida secularizada e uma revanche do sagrado. Analisamos as propostas pedagógicas em um contexto no qual a garantia das condições materiais de sustentação da vida se apoia em uma economia ordenada sob o modelo do capitalismo neoliberal. Sintetizamos nossa inquietação formulada na hipótese de que o programa da escola se apresenta como uma ação educacional associada a um movimento, de maior amplitude social, enquanto uma nova modalidade de "colonização" que se faz sobre o "território da esperança" e sobre o "território do sentido". Traçamos um percurso de desenvolvimento de nossa hipótese por meio de um esforço inicial de demarcar o terreno que se constitui na bipolaridade da relação que cada sujeito estabelece com o mundo em uma atitude de crença. Entre a vivência de uma crença e a presença no mundo situamos um espaço constituído por dispositivos de intermediação diretamente relacionados com a forma de compreensão do sujeito sobre aquilo que acontece consigo mesmo e ao seu redor, com força suficiente para determinar sua condição de agir. Destacamos nestas formas de mediação o papel da filosofia, com o foco no trabalho do pensamento, o papel da literatura, com o foco na leitura e na escrita, e o papel da ficção, com o foco na relação entre imaginação e percepção / Abstract: The present research analyses the pedagogical project of "The School of Life", based in London and under the guidance of Swiss philosopher Alain de Botton. As goal we wish to analyze the pedagogical project, the educational process and the teaching material used in this educational experiment. We start with the hypothesis that in this school there is a development programme of an alleged "secular spirituality" in course. We question the implications of this principle to the so-called post-modern society, conceived will situated among a secular style of life and a revenge of the sacred. We analyze these pedagogical proposals in a context where the guarantee of material conditions for the sustention of life leans on an economy based on the neoliberal capitalism model. We synthesize our inquietude on the hypothesis that the school‟s programme presents itself as an educational action associated with a movement, of larger social amplitude, of a new modality of "colonization" that takes place in the "territory of hope" and the "territory of sense". We traced a development of our hypothesis through an initial effort to delimit the territory that is constituted in the bipolarity of the relation that each subject establishes with the world in an attitude of belief. Between the living of a belief and the presence in the world we situate a space constituted by intermediation devices directly related to the subject‟s form of comprehension of what happens to himself and around him, with enough strength to determine his conditions of action. We highlight on these forms of mediation the role of philosophy, focusing on the work of thought, the role of literature, focusing on the reading and writing, and the role of fiction, focusing on the relation between imagination and perception / Mestre
