A obstrução do cólon menor é causada principalmente pela compactação de massas ou por enterólitos, acarreta em distensão intraluminal e, consequentemente obstrução dos vasos sanguíneos que irrigam a parede do órgão, desencadeando processo isquêmico. Por conseguinte, ocorrem no organismo alterações metabólicas e enzimáticas, como ativação leucocitária e liberação de enzimas proteolíticas, em direção ao local da injúria. Foram avaliadas as alterações clínicas, hematológicas, celularidade do líquido peritoneal, além da expressão de metaloproteinase 2 e 9 (MMP-2 e MMP-9), em oito equinos, hígidos, adultos, submetidos experimentalmente à obstrução simples de cólon menor, durante 4 horas, por meio de inserção de balão de látex, sob pressão de 80mmHg. Os parâmetros clínicos, hematológicos e o fluido peritoneal foram avaliados antes da obstrução intestinal (M0), imediatamente após a obstrução intestinal (M4) e em intervalos de 12 horas até completarem 72 horas após desobstrução do cólon menor (M72). As atividades gelatinolíticas de MMP-2 e MMP-9, no plasma e líquido peritoneal foram obtidas em M0, M4 e M72, posteriormente submetidas à análise zimográfica. Através do exame físico constatou-se aumento da frequência cardíaca e temperatura retal em M12 e da frequência respiratória em M24. A porção eritrocitária do hemograma não apresentou diferenças significativas, mas evidenciou diminuição discreta de hemácias, hemoglobina, hematócrito e plaquetas em M4. Já o leucograma indicou aumento de leucócitos em M12 e M24 e diminuição na resposta leucocitária a partir de M36 (p≤0,05). Em relação à celularidade do líquido peritoneal verificou-se aumento estatístico dos valores de hemácias, hemoglobina... / Abstract: The syndrome of acute abdomen is one of the diseases that most stands out in the surgical clinical care to the equine species. The obstruction of the lower colon is mainly caused by mass or compression for enterólitos, carries on intraluminal distension and, consequently clogging of blood vessels supplying the organ, triggering ischemic process. Therefore, occur in the body and metabolic changes of enzymes, such as leukocyte activation and proteolytic enzymes release, toward the site of the injury. Were evaluated clinical, haematological changes, peritoneal fluid cellularity, beyond the expression of metalloproteinase 2 and 9 (MMP- 2 and MMP-9), in eight horses, healthy adults, subjected experimentally to simple obstruction of colon minor, during 4 hours, through the insertion of latex balloon, under pressure of 80mmHg. Clinical, hematological parameters and the peritoneal fluid were evaluated before the intestinal obstruction (M0), immediately after the bowel obstruction (M4) and at intervals of 12 hours until they reach 72 hours after clearing the lower colon (M72). Gelatinolíticas activities of MMP-2 and MMP-9, plasma and peritoneal fluid were obtained in M0, M4 and M72, subsequently submitted to zimográfica analysis. Through the physical exam found an increase in heart rate and rectal temperature in M12 and the respiratory rate in M24. The portion of the erythrocyte hemogram showed no significant differences, but showed discrete red blood cells, hemoglobin decrease, hematocrit and platelets in M4. Already the WBC indicated increase of leukocytes in M12 and M24 and decreased leukocyte response from M36 (p ≤ 0.05). Regarding the cellularity of peritoneal fluid was found statistical increase of the values of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit in M4, leukocytes, mononuclear and polymorphonuclear in M12.
