Para estudar e analisar esse processo, estudiosos tem utilizado abordagens do capital social. Considerando o exposto, objetiva-se em âmbito geral: a) identificar o papel/função da comunicação interpessoal no processo de busca de informação realizado por advogados; e b) verificar a aplicabilidade da teoria do Capital Social desenvolvida por Nan Lin para elucidar o processo de busca de informações realizado por advogados na sua prática profissional, notadamente por meio da comunicação interpessoal. Em um contexto mais específico, objetivou-se: a) verificar o tipo de informação buscada pelos advogados por meio de fontes informais de informação - pessoas; b) averiguar como os advogados procedem para legitimar as informações obtidas para o desenvolvimento de suas atividades de trabalho; c) definir as características das redes sociais dos advogados que podem afetar o acesso e o uso de informações. Para tanto, foi analisada uma amostra composta por 16 advogados que atuam na cidade de Marília. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada e os dados coletados foram analisados por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo preconizada por Laurence Bradin (2010). (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: Lawyers are embedded in a complex information environment, and many these professionals use interpersonal communication as an effective way to get important information they need, which is a characteristic of lawyers. To study and analyze this process, scholars have used approaches to social capital. Considering the above, the objective is broader in scope: a) identify the role / function of interpersonal communication in the information seeking process carried out by lawyers; and b) verify the applicability of the theory of social capital developed by Nan Lin to elucidate the information seeking process held by lawyers in their professional practice, notably through interpersonal communication. In a more specific context: a) verify the type of information sought by lawyers through informal sources of information - people; b) ascertain how the lawyers proceed to legitimize the information obtained for the development of their work activities; c) define the characteristics of social networks of lawyers that can affect access to and use of information. For such, will be analyzed a sample of 16 lawyers who work in Marília. The data collection was carried out by a semi-structured interview and the data collected were analyzed using the content analysis technique recommended by Laurence Bardin (2010).
