Orientador: Eduardo Romero de Oliveira / Banca: Norma Regina Truppel Constantino / Banca: Antônio Soukef Junior / Resumo: A presente pesquisa propõe a análise do conjunto ferroviário existente na cidade de Mairinque, localizada no Estado de São Paulo e fundada originalmente como uma vila, em 1890, para atender aos interesses da Companhia Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana. Dentre os edifícios da vila, que ainda prevalecem, encontram-se, por exemplo, casas, oficinas, galpões e armazém. A estação de Mairinque foi tombada pelo CONDEPHAAT e IPHAN, porém existem outros remanescentes do conjunto ferroviário, mesmo sem receber proteção legal semelhante. Nesse caso, cabe questionar se as medidas de proteção e as apropriações adotadas no decorrer do tempo contribuíram para a manutenção da articulação original e permanência do conjunto. Dessa forma, nosso objetivo geral consiste em compreender a articulação entre os bens que determinam o entendimento sobre o conjunto, por meio da análise sobre a formação original ferroviária, as medidas de proteção e intervenção promovidas e a situação atual em que se encontra, a fim de estabelecermos diretrizes de preservação adequadas à realidade local. Para tanto, a metodologia de trabalho inclui pesquisa documental e bibliográfica, levantamento de campo, inventário, mapeamento e entrevista. Sendo que as diretrizes propostas poderiam alterar a condição de abandono e descaracterização das áreas que sofreram com o declínio da ferrovia, valorizar regiões que possuem vestígios dessa atividade e modificar as relações empreendidas entre a cidade e o conjunto. / Abstract: This research proposes the analysis of the existing railway's set in the city of Mairinque, located in the State of São Paulo and originally founded as a village, in 1890, to serve the interests of the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana Company's. Among the buildings which still prevail in the village there are houses, workshops, sheds and warehouse. The Mairinque station was legally protected by IPHAN and CONDEPHAAT, but other remnants of the railway's set still exist in the city, even without receiving the same protection. In this way, we study if the protective measures and the appropriations used over the years contributed to the maintenance of the set continuity and original articulation. Thus, our overall goal is to understand the relation between the railway's estate, which helps to understand this set, through the analysis of the original formation of the rail set, the conservation and interventionist measures promoted and the current situation of this set, in order to establish appropriate preservation guidelines to the local conditions. Therefore, the chosen work methodology includes inventory and mapping, documental and bibliographic research, interview and technical visit. The appropriate guidelines to local conditions could change the current state of abandonment of the areas which suffered from the decline of the railroad, value regions that still have traces of this activity and modify the relations undertaken between the city and the set. / Mestre
