É necessário pensar em pesquisas relacionadas a esses tópicos de avanço regional, com foco na elaboração de políticas públicas e planejamentos estratégicos. O conceito de smart cities ou cidades inteligentes visa desenvolver a gestão perspicaz das cidades e seus recursos, por meio do capital humano. As unidades de informação em cidades inteligentes propiciam o avanço de pesquisas e estudos sobre questões ligadas ao crescimento tecnológico e informacional dos centros urbanos. Ao se considerar o potencial informativo relacionado a gestão e planejamento que os documentos dos arquivos públicos possuem, pressupõe-se que é fundamental a sua atuação direta e efetiva nas tomadas de decisões governamentais que interferem na prosperidade das regiões inteligentes. Dessa forma, pretendeu-se identificar o arquivo público como centro informacional de sua localidade. O objetivo do estudo procurou identificar e subsidiar as ações dos arquivos públicos em cidades inteligentes ibero-americanas. It is necessary to think about research related to these topics of regional advance, focusing on the elaboration of public policies and strategic planning. The concept of Smart Cities or Intelligent Cities (CI) aims to develop the insightful management of cities and their resources, through human capital. The information units in intelligent cities provide the development of research and studies on issues related to the technological and informational development of urban centers. When considering the informational potential related to the management and planning that the documents of the public archives have, it is assumed that their direct and effective action in governmental decision-making regarding the development of the intelligent regions is fundamental. In this way, it is intended to identify the performance of the public archive in intelligent regions.
