Diante do acúmulo do custo ambiental como consequência das transformações decorrentes do acelerado e concentrado processo de urbanização e crescimento das cidades, estes trouxeram mudanças agressivas nas condições do ambiente natural, quais sejam ameaças naturais e/ou causadas pela ação humana. Dentre estes impactos, o clima urbano é efetivamente um fenômeno resultante desse processo ao modificar sobremaneira o ritmo de interrelação no sistema superfície-atmosfera (SSA). Tendo como recorte territorial de investigação as cidades paulistas de São Carlos, Marília e Presidente Prudente, esta pesquisa visou identificar como o clima urbano se constitui numa atmosfera particular em lugares com níveis de vulnerabilidade socioespacial e riscos distintos. A hipótese principal da tese foi a de que os diferentes níveis de criticidade e exposição aos riscos identificados são aplicáveis aos diferentes graus de tecnificação empregados nos diferentes territórios, ou seja, que o clima urbano passa a ser relativo e seletivo. O objetivo foi relacionar a configuração dos climas urbanos a partir da geração das ilhas de calor urbanas (ICU) à dimensão histórica de produção dos espaços urbanos. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The research was based on a geographic approach associated with the urban climate, based on the Urban Climate System (SCU) and the production of geographic space, subsidized by the analytical perspective of Climate Geography. In the face of the accumulation of environmental costs as a consequence of the transformations resulting from the accelerated and concentrated process of urbanization and urban growth, aggressive changes in the conditions of the natural environment, what are the threats, natural and /or caused by human action. Among these impacts, the urban climate is effectively a phenomenon resulting from this summation process, since it greatly modifies the interrelationship rhythm in the surface-atmosphere system (SSA). The city of São Carlos, Marília and Presidente Prudente, as a territorial and research cut, aimed to identify how the urban climate constitutes a particular atmosphere in places with different levels of socio-spatial vulnerability and risks.
