Den här undersökningen handlar om managementkonsulter och deras yrkesroll. Undersökningen bygger på empiri insamlad på ett managementkonsultföretag i Sverige. Empirin består av samtalsbaserade intervjuer med managementkonsulter samt en intervju med en representant för en av de organisationer som anlitat konsultföretaget. Syftet med undersökningen är att undersöka under vilka förutsättningar konsulterna utför sitt arbete tillsammans med de grupper de utbildar. För att besvara denna fråga har jag tagit hjälp av teorier rörande, Koncept & översättning, rollteori och interaktionsritualer. Resultatet av studien visar att konsulterna uppfattar sin egen prestation tillsammans med gruppen som den viktigaste faktorn för framgången i deras arbete. Då de menar att om de inte lyckas med att på ett medryckande och övertygande vis förmedla de budskap de har så kommer dessa budskap inte att vinna mark hos kunden. / This thesis examines the professional role of management consultants. The thesis is based on empirical data gathered from interviews with management consultants froma consultant agency in Sweden as well as an interview with a representative from oneof the agency’s customers. The purpose of this study is to examine the professionalrole of the management consultants in their relations with the customer groups theyare hired to educate. To answer the purpose I have used theory’s concerning,Concepts & translation, role theory, and interaction ritual theory. The result of thestudy shows that the consultants view their own performance as vital for the successof their work together with the customer groups. If the consultants fail to beconvincing and inspiring they see a little chance for their methods to be implementedin their costumer’s organisation.Keywords: consultant, management consultant, roles, translation, concept.
