Jacobsson, A. (2013). Physical activity on prescription – patient experience. C-thesis inPublic Health. Faculty of Health and Occupational Studies. University of Gävle. The aim of the study was to study patients' experiences of getting physical activity prescribedon Prescription (FaR) and their ability to follow the prescription. The study had a descriptivedesign with a qualitative approach. One woman and two men, who had been prescribed FaRfrom two health-care centers in a municipality in central Sweden, participated in the study.Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using qualitative contentanalysis. The analysis resulted in a theme: Positive attitude towards FaR and the prescriber, but more information is needed about FaR as an alternative in health care. The participantswere satisfied with FaR and considered it as a good way to get started with a lifestyle change. They were very also satisfied with the prescribers of FaR and felt that cooperation betweenthe individual and the health-care council (landstinget) worked well. The only obstacleparticipants experienced with FaR was that there was too little knowledge of FaR. Moreinformation about and visibility of FaR in Sweden is required than it is today, both in healthcare and population. Continued research is needed in order to develop and increase theprescription of the recipe of physical activity. Keywords; physical activity on prescription, patients, experience
