”Jag var inte den killen då, det var någon jag blev” : En kvalitativ studie om processer i identitetsskapande, socialisering, stämpling och stigmatisering av ungdomar i högerextrema organisationer / ”I wasn’t that guy then, it was someone I became” : A qualitative study about processes of identification, socialization, labeling and  stigmatization of youths in right-wing organizations

The purpose of this study is to analyze the processes that make youths stay in right-wing organizations. In this qualitative study there is also a description of the measures used in order that individuals do not become members of the extreme right-wing groupings. Interviews have been made by two informants who work with crime prevention issues in the municipality, and two informants who have been members of extreme-right organizations. After the interviews were conducted and transcribed, they have been analyzed thematically based on the social-psychological perspective, symbolic interactionism through three subcategories; socialization, identity as well as labeling and stigmatization. Through socializations the individuals emulate the norms and values that they encounter in their environment. The individual is socialized through various groups, the extreme-right group could be a source of strengthening Nazi and racist views. Identity is also created through interaction with other people. The individual's identity can be reinforced when he becomes a member of right-wing extremist factions and can be difficult to get away if he was not offered anything else, better from society outside the group. The Labeling theory assumes that society does not accept standards other than those accepted by the large group. Other individuals are rejected and excluded. Individuals who is labeled and excluded from the large group seek to enter other groupings, in this study the right-wing extremist, where they will be accepted, thus increasing the distance to the established society. In order to avoid the continued recruitment to extremist gangs advocated that young people should take part of a stable set of values and learn about democratic rights. School singled out as the main influence area.
