Dags att ta hand om barnen : En studie av Fliseryds barnavårdsnämnd under perioden 1926-1934 / Time to take care of the children : A study of Fliseryd’s child welfare board during the years 1926–1934

The purpose of this essay is to study Fliseryds municipality’s child welfare board during the period 1926-1934. In what questions did they work and how many children were taken under the board’s control and how many were situated at foster homes?   The work contains a study of listings of children that were taken under custody during the period. The listings show how many, gender, age and in some cases even the reason for the disposal. Further the work contains a study of protocols from the meetings that were organised by the board. The study shows that many children were taken under custody during the first years due to the fact that the board was set up in 1926. The years after that it is a stable amount of children that is taken under custody. The most common reason for the disposals was the fact that parents did not have the ability to take care of their children. It also shows that the board worked with other questions like the set up of a home for infants and whether parents were suitable for adoptions.
