Segment : En undersökning av antologifilmer med en stad som tema

The purpose of this essay is to study anthology films with a city as theme. The well-known Cities of Love-franchise is an example of these films but it has also been the subject of critique by Temenuga Trifonova  (2013),  who used  the Cities of Love-films  to create the  term  ”The Franchise  City  Film”.  The  aim  with  this  essay  is  to  compare  three  films  to  show  signs  of variation in the group ”anthology films with a city as theme”, beyond the franchise city film- term. Drawing from a combination of theories about the anthology film-concept (Deshpande, 2013) and ”City Films” (Archer 2011, Deleyto & López 2012) the films will be compared in three key aspects: how the films function as anthology films, their transnationality and how the city is shown. The study finds out that the films have a difference between them, which  is highlighted  in  the  key  aspects.  This  shows  that  the  films  all  differ  in  perspective  while portraying their city, which places them either closer to or further from the franchise city film- term.
