”Det viktigaste vi odlar är relationer…” : En enkätundersökning av koloni – och odlingslottsmedlemmars upplevelser av hållbarheteffekter kopplat till odling

The aim of this paper is to examine the purpose and experience of cultivation in allotment gardens and cultivation plots in Umeå. This with focus on effects linked to social sustainability. Members of cultivation organzations in Umeå were contacted and sent a digital survey including various questions regarding social sustainability and sustainable development in relation to their cultivation interest. A litterature study was done in addition to the survey. The quantitative result of the survey is presented through charts and graphs and the qualitative result in form of free writing from the respondents is presented through quotes. The result shown that there were some experiences that users had from cultivation that could be linked to social sustainability, thus there were also other factors that had strong importance regarding their main purpose of their cultivation in the allotment gardens or cultivation plots. In summary the study shows that the purpose of cultivation for the cultivators can differ but most of the respondents in this study do experience some form of benefits linked to social sustainability through their cultivation in allotment gardens or cultivation plots.
