The use of field trips as an instructional technique in education

Some arbitrary limitation of this subject has been found necessary in order to keep the discussion of field trip within reasonable bounds. In this study the field trip is used interchangeably with excursion and school journey. American writers seem to prefer the use of the term excursion while the British and German writers use the term school journey. This is attributed to the fact that Continental trips are of much longer duration. This writer prefers the simple term trip. To him excursion places the emphasis on enjoyment.
